Just returned from casino with several dd $100 s17, das tables.
I use a modified halves counting system. Several plays seem " not normal", like if the count is below 0 it says to hit 12 v 4 or 6 up. 16 v 10 is another where I'll hit if negative, stand if positive, while trying to act as if I'm looking for divine intervention in deciding what to do. If there is another player at the table, it's kind of fun to watch their reaction, although I'm somewhat reluctant to do some of these plays as I worry about attracting unwanted attention.
I try to "look like a gambler", usually only parlaying my bet when I've won and the count is favorable, leaving my bet the same if I win and count is negative, or decreasing it if I lose with a negative count. Very occasionally, I'll add a second hand with a big positive count and I've lost a few hands, unable to "naturally" increase my bet.
I sort of get paranoid when for the 3rd time in an hour, playing with 2-3 other players, I'll have a big bet out, catch BJ and every up card is a face card.
If I lose several hands and the count is negative, I get up and move if there is another open table. I call it "Wonging Out", as opposed to Wonging In, watching a table waiting for a favorable count to enter, which isn't normally available anymore.
The monthly BJ newsletter says that they use a computer to evaluate players. Does anyone know how closely they monitor? What does "evaluate" a player mean? My normal starting bet is $250. I only go 2-3 times per year. Normally get room comp and some food covered. Have only had one big $10k+ win in last 10 visits, normally ending slightly positive/negative after about 10 hours of play.
When does the casino decide to refuse your play?
