My understanding was that he had been waiting for some absurdly long time for cardiac surgery. I have had open heart surgery myself. In the U S A if someone is deemed appropriate for such surgery, it is normally scheduled, if not performed, on the SAME DAY!
Canadian socialized medicine is to blame for this untimely demise I suspect.
