For BS, gain is +0.5%...
SCAA71,
I took the WoO's 6D S17 EV tables and estimated the "Split-Double" (SD) EV's as twice the DD EV (against the appropriate dealer's upcard) for a player's hand of 6-5 (for A-A), 6-4 (for X-X), and 6-3 (for 9-9): these estimates are approximate, of course, but should be pretty close to the "real" values.
I then calculated the "Delta EV" as the difference between the EV-maximizing plays for the "SD BS" and the "normal" BS: if this value is zero, then SD BS says NOT to split-double.
For the probability of each SD hand, I used the WoO's probability for the initial split hand for A-A and 9-9; for X-X, I divided the WoO's prob. by 4 to account approximately for the "no SD on KQ" rule: again, this is only approximately true, but should be close enough for a 6D game.
I then multiplied each "Delta EV" by the corresponding Probability and summed to get the EV Gain, which was 0.005004, or about 0.5%.
The new BS is to SD for A-A vs. 2-10, X-X vs. 2-7, and 9-9 vs. 3-6. Although SD is +EV for, say, X-X vs. 8, the Stand EV is higher still.
Naturally, if you're counting cards you'd have additional gains, as you would SD A-A vs. A, for example, if the count warrants a DD on 11 vs. A.
Hope this helps!
Dog Hand
P.S. Don, I've heard of this rule specifically for A-A at some upper Midwest tribal casinos, but have not encountered it myself.
