soft handsNew to Vegas, new to Blackjack

New to Vegas, new to Blackjack, ran into something that I either didn't know or I got jobbed. Dealer has A-4-3, I'm thinking 18 but she hits saying that it was a soft 8, what happened>

Dealer Error

My best guess is that she was new and/or confused and/or distracted. Perhaps the 4 and the 3 equalling 7 mentally had her thinking "soft 17" even though she out loud said soft 18. Was it a red chip table, or higher stakes? Did you say something? Dealer errors both in your favor and in their favor are not uncommon. I point both out as calmly as possible.

Minor mistake

I thought you had written that she said "soft 18," not soft 8. Is there such an animal as "soft 8?":) Regardless, she sounds like she is quite inexperienced.
