Side bet: BJ pays 19:1

I'm playing at a casino where you can bet that you receive a Blackjack. If you get one, your bet is paid 19:1.
The game is six deck.
I know that you get a BJ once every 21 hands.
When you are counting, is it possible to find a point where the player has the edge?

I would have to say that this side bet will not last too long if any kind of money can be bet on it. The swings on the bet would be huge but when the advantage was in your favor your EV would be large.
I would think of it like insurance, a great bet for the house normally but a great bet for the skilled player. I would think there is a High/Low number maybe +3 or +4 where it becomes a profitable bet.

All of you non-side Ace players can pound the hell out of Hi Opt II etc, but this is where it can come in VERY handy. Simply make the side bet when the deck is even slightly Ace rich. The count will also help you determine 10 richness above 4 for 13 cards. See if you can track the Aces and or sequence them thru the shuffle. How much is the side bet? $1 paid off with 4 reds, they take your white? Enjoy while it lasts and DON'T tell anyone where this game is, not even ME.

I have heard of this being offered, but you could only exercise it on the first hand after the shuffle, so it would never have a positive expectation. Is this the case?

I have seen variations of this side bet at several casinos, although it usually only pays 15:1 or 17:1.

In all cases, it may only be made "off the top," that is, the first round after a shuffle.

If you get BJ, you spin the wheel and get the $$ it lands on. The lowest value is $15, I think. The highest is $5000, but apparently there is a 1/3000 or something chance of hitting it. The next highest is maybe $60. Then everything else (maybe 10-12 spots total) floats around 20.

I imagine this might be beatable on average, but the $1 side bet really makes it more of a novelty or red chip advantage play.

At Caino Royale: I think it's offered on the "hand held" MULTI-deck, but also on a legit 2-deck game.

There's a side bet at one of the tables at Baldini's in Reno which pays 6:1 on two card twenty. If I count tens anyway for insurance (start at -4 per deck, +1 for non-tens, -2 for tens), how far up should this count go before I should make the side bet?

the probability of getting a 2 card 20 exceeds 1/7.

can be adjusted to whatever its vendor & customer wants (like a slot machine)...I don't think there could be a TC high enough to make the thing positive considering how much it slows the game down and that the max bet is $1 it sucks.

BTW, the lowest $ on Wheel is $10....high is $1,000. The most frequent hits seem to be between $11 and $15.

interesting... there must be multiple wheels... I'm positive I've seen $5000 and a LARGE majority of the payoffs over $15. This was at Casino Royale.
