RoR
Can someone provide me with a link at which I can learn about risk of ruin (ROR)?
Very good query!risk of ruin is the most important thing any gambler should know.Whether playing bj,poker video poker or sports betting.but actually applying it to bj is the easiest as your percentage advantage in bj(or VP) can be calculated quite easily, not so for poker or sports betting.
first of all you have your bankroll then you can calculate your optimal bet size depending on what game you play.but remember all games with say a He of .5% are not the same and will not have the same op betting scheme,it depends on pen,no of decks and rules,ie surrender is VERY good for counters.
I would recommend getting a simulator for calculating your optimal bet size according to the risk of ruin you are comfortable with.Maybe SBA or Cv.
Then after doing all of this remember you can still go bust, that is the danger of blackjack.
you have to start off with at least 5000$,and be comfortable with the idea of losing this, this is the crux of bj,so many counters have started off with high hopes and then crashed and start cursing everyone but themseleves.
and remember it even takes a long time to even realise it is actually working apart from just luck.
playing bj is a long hard grind.but understanding how hard it is,is the best first step to make.
byrce carlsons BJ for blood has a chapter on ROr and if you like math then Peter Griffins Theory of blackjack is the one for you.
But as Wildcard says BJA is the book for win rate, optimal betting and ROR
