RIP Dominique Victor Cellini (Link)

I've been privy to know of his passing for some time, but it is very sad.

Cellini was an insightful person and writer with an inimitable sense of humor.

My condolences to his family and many friends.

Specifics about his age, hospice or reason of passing will not be revealed. Although, if you read the interview with Cellini, the last line of the intro stated, "Please enjoy this glimpse of a frank and honest man, one of the last of the true Vegas originals..."

The man had seen and done quite a bit. He had a seat front and center for the evolution of The Meadows and the games we play.

It`s said that in Celtic tradition, a death in one world results in a birth in another. For this reason, deaths were times of joyous occaision ... for while we may have lost a legend, the next world gained a hero.

I knew Cellini only through his postings on bjfonline, but it was always a treat to read his musings. I still chuckle at the exchanges he had with Molly, and while they undoubtedly annoyed those who were vexed over their little 16 v 10 problem ... it was apparent the man knew what mattered in life, and how to live it.

What a treat to find in Toddler`s wonderful tribute the following passage:

�If you remember one thing in life it should be this; family, friends, and fun. Heaven can wait. As my wife once said, �what are you going to say on your deathbed? I wish I could have worked more hours?' Stop, look around, and count your blessings�.

You were, and always will be, an inspiration to us all.

Cellini, to me was an inspiration. As most of you know by now, I am a relatively Newbie to advantage play; having taking it up just this year. It was one of my earliest experiences reading Cellini posts. I was so intrigued that I scrounged up the $95 to purchase his wonderful, 85 page, book, "The Card Counter's Guide to Casino Surveillance". I must have read that book 10 times when out of the blue a mutual friend of Cellini's and mine brought me an "autographed" copy of the rag.

Inside, Cellini wrote..."Radar, Get to know your enemy...then kick their ass!..., Best Wishes, DV Cellini" Typical of the man. Didn't know me from Adam but wanted to impress on me the seriousness of our chosen field.

Those words should serve us all!

He never knew how instrumental he was in my eventual "obsession" with AP.

Although I never met the man, I felt he was one person from the "other side" that I could actually trust and believe. My prayers are with his family.

I hope that others that had an axe to grind with Cellini before, will now let it go. May he rest in peace.

I believe I am speaking for the majority of the AP community when I say thanks for all you have done to bring Cellini a little closer to us all.

Even though your 'pieces' cannot be found on these pages, most of the community has read them elsewhere, I'm sure.

Thanks for the great interview and the time you devoted bringing it to us. Not only did it bring the "real" Cellini into focus, it showed a side of you and Molly, as well.

How about some other interviews of famous players, and other people? Maybe you could start on this site with Stanford?

Your writing sytle is superb, I, for one, would like to see more of it.

Again, thanks for the Cellini posts and interview, good job!
