Will be in Reno in mid-April and noticed a decent room rate at the Peppermill, but it says "Lodge Room." Is that the building behind the main casino? And would that be a good place to be? If not Peppermill, what would you recommend? And is the Golden Phoenix a new name for an old place I would recognize? I want to be near good BJ games, which is more important to me than luxurious surroundings. Thanks
The lodge is the single story motel behind the casino. I've stayed there for $20-30/ngt. It is nothing special, but it is OK. Golden Phoenix used to be Flamingo Hilton downtown.
"Lodge Room"....In the olden days, this used to mean either a room in a mountain resort that was just average (but not terrible), or a hotel/motel room that perhaps was close to a main floor lounge/bar with a giant fireplace, friendly bartenders and a group of guests socializing and looking to meet new people while they enjoyed their getaway vacation.
Nowadays,....well, nevermind.
Good luck...and you will need it in today's casino environment, especially at the Peppermill, if you are an advantage player.
