Do you mean that one should avoid playing in Ukraine and Romania?
Are all casinos in those countries owned by mafia?
I was actually talking more about underground casinos in the US and elsewhere outside of the host countries. But yes, it really isn't worth it to play in these countries. Ukraine in particular has endemic corruption affecting ever layer of society-bribery and protection money are facts of life for any medium-sized business. Even the Prime Minister is widely known to have poisoned the president. Naturally, this is not the sort of place where you want to try out AP (and yes, the games are pretty good).
There are a handful of joints in Kiev, the capital which are "probably" okay since they are more european in outlook and cater to foreigners. Even there, you'd need the help of a native to be reasonably safe.
Looks like your decision was made before you even posted and wasted everybody's time.
