Every month green chippers select a Post of the Month from among all the messages posted to the green-chip pages during the month. The winner receives $100 and the winning post is preserved in a special section of the Archives dedicated to Posts of the Month.

An email received from Titaniumman on 31 August says: "If I win the POM, please make the check payable to the Red Cross and specify it for the hurricane Katrina relief fund. I�m already making a financial donation, and I had the luxury of allowing employees reporting to me to take paid time off to give blood. Diverting any funds from this catastrophe just wouldn�t set well in my stomach." Therefore Titaniumman's $100 is being sent to the Red Cross.

Could I make an observation in passing?

Immediately after 911, I found the actions and, I can only describe it as corporate greed, of the American Red Cross un-imaginable. They may have changed, I don't know; I hope so. For those of us who are able and plan to make financial contributions to the relief effort, I would encourage each one to seek an outlet for your generosity that won't waste it. Please don't just throw it up in the air and hope some gets to where it is needed.

I went to a AAA ball game last night and saw free tickets to tomorrow's game in exchange for bottled water for New Orleans.

I saw firefighters outside that same game collecting money for New Orleans.

I saw a little ten year old girl on TV that had collected $900 in a Tupperware container from her neighborhors for New Orleans.

I saw some group in SoCal collecting $400 grand on the street for New Orleans.

I saw people in Chicago gathering up all kind of supplies for New Orleans.

A FEDEX pack went out of our office yesterday bound for New Oleans.

The Dems and Repubs can screw around trying to get position; the people can fix the problem if we are smart.
