The competition was intense. "Cutting the heat and boots in Vegas" appeared to have Post of the Month locked up early. Then on 29 December, alienated posted "Some Boundary Effects in Segment Tracking" and almost won.
Every month green chippers select a Post of the Month from among all the messages posted to the green-chip pages during the month. The winner receives $100 and the winning post is preserved in a special section of the Archives dedicated to Posts of the Month.
