If you found that you're probably familiar with the Two Plus Two Poker Forum. That, to me, would be the best place to get all the information you need. Some poker players there feel the PPA does good. Other poker players there feel the PPA is just a bunch of reprehensible, opportunistic clowns who saw a chance to insinuate themselves into a niche market and misappropriate money from the the 90% or so of poker players who lose money and comprise a group of impressionable naive underachievers who are convinced the world owes them a living and believe a poker site's sole purpose is to provide them a source of easy, unlimited income which is tax free, and then the PPA gives this money to themselves in the form of salaries and "expenses". Some believe the PPA influences legislature. Others believe the PPA accomplishes little, if anything, and just waits to tout their own horn after the fact claiming they were responsible for the few and far between naturally occurring minor victories in state legislature, spaced years apart in the poker world, that were initiated well before the PPA and would have happened anyway without them.
As always, keep an open mind and formulate your own opinions.
Btw, I played 5/10 NLHE live at the casinos in Connecticut and Atlantic City for 3 years as my only source of income. I did not depend on the money. I used an Excel spreadsheet during that time and my win rate, after hotel, food, gas and depreciation was $28.55 hourly. It was considerably less than my win rate playing blackjack and way less comps but way, way easier with no heat, of course. Online, I have been a marginal winner and don't play often because I don't have faith in offshore casinos. I lived in NJ and did play some limited poker there online after is was legalized and, despite reports of some shenanigans, was comfortable there but discouraged by the small player pools. Online, I have never had a player seated next to me try to cough up a lung with whatever unknown, tubercular sounding ailment he was afflicted with, or licking his finger then bury it up to the first knuckle into his nostril before grabbing his chips or cards. If you are interested in lobbying for the legalization of online poker you have my wholehearted respect and support.
