Draw was the game I first learned.
High draw has been gone from the California clubs since the legislature allowed the open games. For most of a century the contention was that the closed games (both high and low draw) were skill-based and therefore permitted, while the open games (5, 6 and 7 stud, and yes there is a 6 card stud) were luck-based and forbidden. In the '80s this changed and Hold'em now predominates.
I haven't played draw in more than a decade. Actually, I seldom play Texas Hold'em anymore, prefering split pot Omaha and 7 Stud as the skilled player holds more of an advantage and the fluctuation is significantly less.
