permissibility in casino's

Hello. I was readingg up on the MIT Blackjack Team's success. I think I read somewhere that they had a device which looks much like a car remote door unlock device, and which I think was something that allowed cards to be counted or something like that. I am not even sure what it is, but it was some electronic devices that I t hink fromteh r eading, said it could be veiled from the eyes of the pit boss or something like that.

I have been trying to do extensive reading on casino rules and regulations, and the most I have been able to determine regarding what one can bring in is that photographic equipment are generally prohibited. In one of STanford Wong's book, in a section regarding ethics, all taht is said is that the casino is responsible for any mistakes made with regards to rukes and that the players are not obliged to point out the mistake. He also says the essentially no cheating and gives the example of running away with chips, as something not to do and associate with the activity of card counting. I am at odds here, with regards to what one can bring into the caisno. Some casinos may give out strategy cards.

Now, I have a degree in electronics engineering and have the ability to construct a veiled device which would fit under my pocket, that would essentialy contain a table of basic strategies and inform me of correct moves and do counting for me through hidden button. Is this illegal? I looked all through the websites for some casinos and was unable to find anything about what one can and cannot bring in.

If I made up my little own circuit board with a hidden switch and was able to input into it my cards and the dealers face up card,and had basic strategy information, is this an infringement of any casino's policy? Is this cheating? Or is this simply a use of simple skills? Is it illegal to store in an electronic device, the numbers on top of the cards that I see and do number magic with them? Is it illegla to have in elelctronic form, basic strategy information? I am not peeking under the deck or frauding anyone, I am simply inputting numbers into a machine as I play.

Can someone help me out here? Is something like this illegal?

computers and any type of electronic devices are illegal. basic strategy charts are not. it is true that teams experimented on computers back when no law existed prohibiting devices on tables.

Now, I am not trying to be a cheater or anything here, but I tried searhing on google everywhere regarding casino regulations. WHe one walks into most low scale casinos, there really is no audacious and attention-catching sign that says no electronic devices allowed. Nor do the caisno websites that I have visited have a section dedicated to saying things like no electronic devices allowed. Is it just an unwritten rule/regulation or is this actually written somewhere in some common constitution or some other document?

try searching nevada gaming laws/regulations/statutes most gaming laws for cheating are not posted like pinching/capping a bet but if cellphone use is not allowed in the r&s book area imagine how a casino would react if they find a computer strapped to a person to determine strategy, they would prosecute.

1. When you walk into a bank, or a convenience store, etc, you don't see a sign on the wall "It is illegal to rob us". :)

2. States in the US that allow casino gambling have laws saying that using any device to either alter the outcome of a game or predict the outcome of a game is illegal to use, and most states make this a felony. I have not visited every state in the US to hit their casinos, but MS, LA and NV certainly have such legislation.

Not all world-wide casinos have such laws, but many are in countries where they can make up the rules as they go. So if you get caught, you might be screwed even if they have no current law against such a device.

Simply don't even think about it in the US however.
