Paid push/loser, pushed loser

It happens to everyone, dealers make mistakes they pay your loser/push or push your loser. Thats great, if I can get paid for losing once in a while.

But what do you do when the floor person comes over a couple hands latter asking for the money back? They got a call from upstairs, and there asking you for the loser plus cash for paying the loser. Some times you know that phone call they just got, after you got paid when you shouldn't have was about the hand that just happend but they don't ask for it back but watch you or the dealer closer.

I've seen players asked for $25 back and then they got up and left the table not to return that day or shift. I've never seen anyone asked to leave or 86'd for not returning the money either. The most I've seen asked back was $200 for a $100 paid loser.

IMO, one of the biggest reasons this happens is because the floor is trying to cover their backside. It damages their ego when people get written up on their shift, so they try to poo-poo the write up with the excuse that "we got the money back, so it doesn't matter." In reality, it's good for the casino to keep track of which dealers are making these mistakes and chew them out when necessary for repeated mistakes. But if the floor can pass it off as no real loss of revenue, it soothes their own egos a little.

Just stupid casino politics.

If they paid you large $ on a mistake, maybe you should just walk out the door before they have a chance to tell you to give it back.

Occationally, on the small ones and if I think a PC is watching, I grab hold of the paid push $, then I say to either the D or the PC, "Here, I need to give this money back because I was mistakenly paid on a push". This is a small price to pay for all that it can return.

you can be barred from future play, put in Griffin as a suspected card cheat, or even backroomed/or arrested.

True, they can even do that for no reason at all.

Walking out after they pay you large on a push and making it look innocent can be part of the fun. It can work if it's done right. To begin with; if you notice you're going to get paid mistakenly, DON'T WATCH. Become preoccupied with something in the opposite direction. Maybe drop something on the floor. It's all in the act, knowing who your up against, timing and execution. ;-)

Dealer hits one of those infamous six or so card 21s and thinks he busted and is paying a full table. I look around behind me, looking distracted and as I turn every player at the table is looking up, around, one tieing a shoe and it hit me as plain funny.
Two hands later pit type comes and talks to the dealer about seeing him before he goes on break. No money asked for, was probably around $1,500 on the table or a 3 grand swing.
My guess is that the pit just ate it and the dealer had a problem, but he was not fired.
