Wondering how some of you feel about the use of ASM shuffled cards with no allowance of anyone cutting the pack before it gets placed into a shoe. It continues to exist in South Lake Tahoe. I think it should be considered illegal by the regulators. ASM,s can be constructed and set to identify certain types of cards and place them into certain areas of the pack, ie. behind the "end of play" plastic card.

I don't doubt that the technology exists...
I'm just interested in knowing how it could be proven.
I had a friend that is an AP and read about this. He told me that the technology exists for setting an ASM to be able to function in this manner. I am no longer in contact with him though.
My point is; that regardless of what the machine does, if someone is allowed to cut the pack, it would still provide a fair play of the cards.

I'm not a shuffle expert, but I'm not sure if this is a valid assumption. If the machine can be programmed to arrange the cards in predetermined sequences, I'm not sure if a random cut by a civilian at the table would fully negate the affects of that sequence.
I.e. Could the house or shuffle machine designers construct shoes, perhaps based on complex computer simulation, that give them an expectation much higher than a random shuffle would based on players playing basic strategy, irregardless of where the cut card is placed?

True. I think it is very possible that a sofisticated ASM can be set to place the aces and faces so that the count will never skew very far off of zero. That would be illegal.
