I AM FROM THE MIDWEST, LOOKING FORWARD TO MY 1ST EVER TRIP TO LAS VEGAS IN THE UPCOMING WEEKS. CAN ANYBODY RECOMMEND WHERE TO GO. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THE THE LAS VEGAS STRIP OFFERS THE BEST RULES. I WANT TO GO WHERE I WONT BE EASILY EXPLOITED. I COME TO TOWN WITH A BANKROLL OF $10K. I WANT A QUICK HIT. ANY SUGGESTIONS GREATLY WELCOMED!!!! I HAVE BEEN COUNTING FOR A FEW YEARS NOW AND WANT MY TIME IN VEGAS...!!! POINT ME IN THE DIRECTION TO GO..

Your best bet on the strip is put on your Nikes and backcount the 6 deck shoes. In at TC +2, out at TC -1. In and out, and keep moving.
Not sure what you mean by being exploited. I think you have this turned around. It's the CC that does the exploiting.
If you have never been to LV, then I would suggest Downtown for decent Single Deck action...as of last week, when I was there, LVC has adequate SD with $5. min. 24/7; Shoe had alot of $10. SD, though around 5am, some went to $5. If you are going to play Green or Black, consider Shoe for SD, or GN for DD...you will be more prone to draw "negative" attention at some of the other properties at this level.
Many Strip properties have good DD games, but often with $25. mins. Again, last week, Stardust had ample $10 DD tables open...however, watch out for their H17/S17 rules...Actually varies from table to table!
Since I only play 6D when I have too (i.e., when I am home in Missouri), I did not pay any attention to 6D in LV...however, essentially all Strip and some Downtown properties offer this version.
Certainly want to avoid 6:5 if you can...and you can. SF21 should not be attempted without studying it's specific rules and play strategy changes. Likewise, Spanish 21 should not be attempted without specific study (if at all).
First trip?! Mine was in 1981 (honeymoon). Wife had a headache, and went to bed; I hit the BJ tables. Married 22 years now...and still the same!

Are you saying the Shoe does not have $5 SD most of the day? I am going in a couple of months and that is where I was planning on playing a lot.
Does El Corteq still have the $5 SD with good pen?

I was at El Cortez this morning. Their $5 SD has excellent pen. Also, the Shoe has plenty of $5 games during the day.
Strip rules are generally OK for shoes, not for pitch games. Downtown has good rules for both, with rare exceptions. I like downtown better but I'm a total red chipper and downtown vegas is a low-rollers paradise. The downtown places are all real close to each other (walking distance). The $5 SD games at LVC and Shoe are often too crowded to be of much use; seems like the early morning hours ie 3am on are ideal. If you're from the East Coast those hours aren't too bad. You can always find a good shoe game downtown, with minimums varying from $3 (Fitzgeralds, Lady Luck) up to $10 or more (Shoe, Nugget).
The quality of games on the strip is real variable; CBJN can save you a lot of shoe leather.
Be like the old bull and not the young one. Leave the arrorgant tourist trap of the strip except to look. Head to Fremont and check out the real Vegas but watch flashin' that Chicago Roll or you might be the gettin' the rollin'. Also go where the locals go- off the strip and always use your brains and that keen sense of awareness. As for the Bulls, walk don't run when it comes to love makin' and/or fun!!
I am in las vegas now. I have experienced the highs of being up $3,000 and down $4,000. I am staying at the Tropicana Hotel & Casino and am feeling the heat!! Heavy heat at Tropicana. Where do I point my efforts next? Any directions? I heard play at Mgm is good? Can anybody confirm this suggestion that I have heard about. I have been throwing some smokescreens play the craps and leave. I have about 3 days left on my trip. Where can I fire away freely with no heat?
