Perhaps...but consider these points
All that might have been staged just for the purposes of the trailer and not filmed in real life. I mean, as a practical matter, how do you roll into a casino with a film crew and not draw attention to the fact that you are likely an advantage player?
Anyway, it looks entertaining and I'll certainly go see it...BUT, one of the things I've learned through the years is that if you want to continue in this game as a counter (once you become proficient and successful)for any length of time, you have to keep a low profile.
My case in point. I have been backed off at most all of the major Las Vegas strip casinos over the last 15 years. I still can play at a few, and could probably play for short sessions during crowded times without being noticed in places like Caesars where there is big play everywhere.
Am I a pro...no. I am a surgeon at a major university. I have a big bankroll from my job that I sset aside for gambling, and I've grown it through the years playing BJ and middle limit (15-30 or 30-60 Hold EM) poker.
Throughout my BJ career the pit has always known I wasn't a pro. They knew I wasn't a Vegas resident. Heck, they would ask me medical questions! I didn't have the look of a counter - I looked like a rich gambler. I would have an occasional drink, tip, chat during the game, chipped up insted of suuden bet increases, etc. I never really made cover plays like the "Ultimate Gambit strategy" proposed by Ian Anderson though, because in my mind I was fighting for my 1-2% and I felt I couldn't give it away. Plus, some of the plays I made, like splitting 9's against an Ace in a +1 count (which is correct but is not a well known play)looked crazy to them anyway...
Well, here's the point. I won- A LOT, and at that level you will draw scrutiny no matter what act you have. Now when I play I don't go for it as aggressively and I "hit and run" more often. My bankroll swings are less dramatic and I haven't had a backoff in 3 years.
Just a little advice to those starting out, BTW. A backoff is not a badge of honor or a validation of your skills. It is a failure on your part to exercise your craft effectively. Longevity is a key part of this game. Remember that.
