Need some advice.

Hello all. Maybe this is not the better place in the site to put this post, but I thought that since here is where players write, and players know they way thru' Vegas, here is where I am more likely to get some help and advice.

Here is the deal: I am a mexican citizen. After 30 years of work I will soon retire. And there is one thing I want to do before trying anthing else: Go to Vegas and see if I can survive there, just playing. I have been in Vegas once a year since 1992, always as a tourist, never been aware of other places than Rio Hotel and some well known casinos. I've always played mostly Black Jack and some craps. Black Jack I know well, I play BS by the book and I know I can count cards. Besides I am a regular reader of this and other forum. Thu' I know of readers of this forum main interest's is BJ, must say that craps have been good to me also.

All my life I've lived in Mexico City, so I know my way around one of the most dangerous cities in the world. But I don't really know my way around Vegas, I don't really know the dos and donts about security, places to stay, places to play. I know there are comps and other ways to save money that can be used to play, but don't have a clue on how they work, how to get them. I'm planning to go alone, one month -in principle- so I have to be very careful. My basic budget -for the first month is 1,500 dollars. From there on.

I will very much appreciate any comments that come from you people, even if those comments include some remarks about my mental health .

I'm thinking of the same- going to LV for one month- lets join forces and make a network to make it a success by sharing info and strategies. What is your level of bj and related areas. I'm also in the stock market and want to pursue that while I'm over there during that period. Besides, I do not like gambling for long hours. I like strategies (quick strikes?). Also, I will have to have access to a computer and the internet. Are costs reasonable in that area?

Like you, I would want to start modestly and have a limited monthly budget for gambling. I have time. This is a good thing to have in order to eliminate time pressure. It is important to have a detailed plan and defined parameters (in writing in my case) before getting into this project in order to avoid distractions and keep my goal and objectives. What do you think of lodging and prices? What do you think the the overall cost of living would be for one month in LV and how much are you willing to spend (other than the gambling budget?
