It's common practice
Have been to a few different casinos recently and found one checking face cards for blackjack. They wont let you hit to see if you an catch a 21. Obvioulsy this is an unfavourable rule and gives the house an edge, making this game unplayable. Does anyone know the exact +0.00 % this gives the house? I have checked for a answer in Professional Blackjack and some other books cant find it at the moment, if anyone knows..... could ya tell me
Most places, not all, will check for blackjack under tens. It has no effect on your hand because you will lose to a blackjack even if you have 21. In fact, if you're a card counter, it's to your benefit, as less cards are used, effectively increasing your penetration.
Now, if you are telling me that some places push their blackjack versus player non-blackjack 21 -- that's worth a lot!
