Mesquite Single-Deck Edge?

I just bought a single issue of CBJN. Apparently that doesn't make me a subscriber, so I can't post to the CBJN forum. I hope this question will be appropriate here.

The current issue gives table conditions for four Mesquite casinos. Each has 1D, 2D, and 6D games. All are h17,ds. The house edge shown for 2D (.40) and 6D (.63) is close to what I calculate, and to what the Advantage Calculator at http://www.qfit.com/calc.htm shows.

For the 1D games, however, the edge is given as .06. It seems to me that the correct number should be closer to .03, or just half that listed. Am I missing something?

Question #2: One of the casinos has "Double pay on any 6-7-8 suited or 7-7-7". Should I assume that this applies for both wins and pushes, or for winning hands only? (I realize these rules make little difference in advance, so this is of academic interest only.)

Also, I'm a little concerned about the currency of the information. Many of the reports (including Wendover and Mesquite, both of major interest to me) date back to September of 2004. Some are even older. How typical is this?

For 1d H17 DAS I get -0.044% for total dependent basic strategy or -0.02% for perfect composition play. However, just playing with a cut card is going to lower that by approximately 0.1%.

I wouldn't worry too much about hundredths of a percent. As soon as one 5 comes out, your advantage goes up 0.69% or 23 times as much as the 0.03% delta you're concerned about.

I'd assume "any" really means any! But I've never played in Mequite, plus this is just the sort of thing a pit boss is liable to screw up on.

I understand. I realize it's not a big issue; I'm interested in the calculation more than the result, and just wondered whether the number came from.

Yes, any 6-7-8 or 7-7-7, but it's still unclear (to me, at least) if ANY 6-7-8 ties with a dealer 21, whether or not it's paid.

I can do it either way. This time, I just looked the numbers up in Appendix A of BJA3. You can find nearly the same numbers on www.bjmath.com Just go to the Table of Contents, and click on Ev tables (don't remember the exact wording). Numbers will vary slightly depending on whather CD or TD strategy was used, and what type of CD or TD was used. Numbers at bjmath are for perfect Composition Dependant play, which very few humans can do, but the pairs are an approximation which has been since improved.

The 0.1% for the cut card I just remember from Griffin. I know it varies depending on exact penetration/number of players, etc. from a study by MathProf a few years ago. Boring you yet.... ?
