Low-stakes Trip Notes

I recently returned to LV for the first time in years with a gambling buddy and had quite a time driving around town hitting the tables.

I fancy myself an AP but play nowhere near the stakes to consider going pro. I play the game because I love it and enjoy the idea of tussling with billion-dollar cash dragons with the belief I am the better tussler. That said, my friend and I are at that stage where we're kinda set for retirement soon, and might start doing more of these trips for higher stakes, so I'm curious what the long-term prognosis for AP blackjack is to members of the GC community.

I just re-read the posting notes from Mr. Rogers, whom I had the privilege of meeting some years back, and have a fresh reminder not to give up any good info to a PC snoop who might be reading. 

Before telling my story, I'll pause to see if there are any requests or comments, e.g. we don't do trip reports any more, tell us about facet X of your game, remember not to discuss Y.

It's been about a year since my last NV trip, but I doubt much has changed.  I'm not going to say where but it's always good to check some of the games off the strip/downtown ;).  Boyd, at least for me, has been the least tolerant of green/black action.  Very quick backoffs at those places.  Strip and downtown conditions are really bad anymore.  Unless you're planning on meandering into High Limit, it's mostly 6 to 5 and/or continuous shufflers.  If you keep an eye open, you can find some hole carding opportunities though.  Not sure if it's still the case but it looked like El Cortez no longer has SD, so I think that might be the end of any 3 to 2 single deck games in Vegas.

Outside of Vegas, Reno is not bad and from what I remember relatively unchanged aside from the closures/openings of casinos.  Overall, pretty tolerant.  I heard positive things about Carson City but never actually saw for myself.  Finally, avoid Lake Tahoe.  Very sweaty and not worth the risk.  Bally's tried trespassing my brother and me, but we claimed we left our IDs in our car.  Somehow they figured out who we are (license plate reader??) and 4 months later while touring the games in Arizona was asked by a casino manager in the process of trespassing me if I was the one who Bally's trespassed in Lake Tahoe.  The threat of getting flyer'd is real in Tahoe and the games were marginally worse there than in Reno.
