Low Stakes Tables at Foxwoods/Mohegan Sun

Hi All,

I apologize in advance if this subject has been addressed in the recent past. I have a question for East coast players (or those whom have visited):

Does Mohegan Sun and/or Foxwoods have low stakes tables (i.e., Table min. $5) where they deal from a shoe? In a couple of trips to Mohegan Sun, I have noticed that 1) there are only a few low stakes tables and 2) they are typically equipped with continuous shuffle machines (all of which makes perfect sense from the House's standpoint). I'm sure table min/max varies by shift, but any information would be much appreciated.

early mornings on weekdays, there were always $10 and $15 mins, sometimes a couple of $5's, but not many. This was a few years ago, and i have not been there that early over the last few years. But, my guess is that it is still the same.

My buddy told me there are more csm's there now, but still plenty of shoes. If you are looking to play lower tables for bankroll purposes, you may not be dead yet though. Believe it or not, even with the csm's(at Mohegan), both them and Foxwoods are VERY tolerant of counters. They are usually so busy and making so much money, they would never know you are there. I think the csm's were put in mainly cause they think SOME customers actually prefer them, and they can pull some of these customers away from Foxwoods.

But even if you are looking to play lower stakes, these places can be played if you are REALLY REALLY disciplined. I mean, you can wong easily, even if the tables are crowded. Just wong in at a TC of 2 and higher. If you are planning to spread say $5 to $100 or $10 to $150 or so on play-all, then instead spread $25 to $100 or even $50 to $150. Sure you won't be playing nearly as much, but still profitable. Please look for the best cuts also, every bit helps, and i know that the cuts there generally suck, but LOOK around, believe me there are lazy dealers everywhere!!!

Of course i posted all this in assumption that you count, cause you seem to not want to play the csm's, so good luck!!!

Some of these remarks and questions at BJ21 can be very strange.
Anyone who touts those CSMs as making perfect sense, is likely to be a strange stranger. I doubt your abilities as a card counter,but maybe just an observer of those (as you say) who visit your casino of interest.

Yes, I am new to this game, but have been practicing counting regularly for 2 or so months. I was turned on to the game after visiting the aforementioned casinos and winning a couple of hundred bucks playing basic strategy. When I went, they were only dealing from the shoes at the $25 tables. Being new to the game, that's a bit steep for me. My intention was to hop-up at a low stakes table and practice counting in a casino environment. To me, the money lost at the table is worth the experience. The obvious retort is, "You can practice with the CSM's anyway." My response: it would be nice to have some fighting chance.

In regards to the continuous shuffle machines, perhaps I don't understand how they really work. I was operating under the assumption that the cards are continuously shuffled. If this is true, that means the dealers don't have to waste time shuffling (more hands per hour), and a counter's ability to tell when the shoe has turned advantageous would be nulled. Again, I may have been operating under an incorrect assumption.

Close. Actually, the shoe never does turn advantageous with a CSM, but from a practicality standpoint, the effect is the same.

I think he failed to comprehend that you were saying that the Casino was touting CSMs when you said in your initial post in this thread: (all of which makes perfect sense from the House's standpoint)

If you ever get into to card counting and become good at it,then you'll understand why I hate these machines and will never have anything good to say about them or/and never put in goodie words as assuming to be the most perfect sense of how you perceive a practice through the eyes of another. Oddly enough as it seems,.... many casinos,dealers and ploppies hate these machines as well. These days casinos have been getting rid of CSMs and going back to the traditional shoe,it makes perfect sense.

Casinos have found that Csms are not the beneficial money making machines they were once touted to be. The reasons are too long to list,so let's leave it to your imagination of perfect sense.
