Late Surrender Question - Using Zen

Playing DD, DAS, LS, H17, PEN 70 - 78 %

Is it better to Surrender 16 vs 10, vs A, 15 vs 10, 14 vs 10 (7,7) whenever these hands are dealt out to the player regardless of TC, or is it in the players favor to use the LS Option based upon an Indice number? If the latter, would anyone be willing to share those Indices with me?
Secondly, does the LS Option advantage change as the shoe is depleted? In other words is there any diference whether it's the 1st half or second half of the shoe?

It's better to use the actual number. Many use a fixed strategy if they only occasionally play surrender games OR for cover purposes (like Ian's Gambit).

Bigplayer, I thought I remembered a post from you quite a while back where you had said that the Zen count true edge method (count per quarter deck) is significantly less effective than the original Zen (count per deck). Can you elaborate or clarify?

True Edge was developed I think to reduce the number of indexes...if you divide by 1/4 decks to get your TC your index numbers become automatically rounded (compromised). The original version of Zen is more exact with regard to the index numbers and betting and is one of the main reasons why players switched to Zen in the first place.

Simulations show that the True Edge Zen does not perform as well as the 1980 Original Zen system.

I often hear much hype about Unbalanced Zen II and it's superior performance. Surely it doesn't somehow outperform balanced Zen, right? I'm assuming the fanfare about UBZII has to do with the combination of simplicity and performance. Is this accurate? Thanks in advance.

I haven't run simulations on UBZ-II so I can't vouch for how it compares to Zen. Looking at correlations throwing in High-Low and KO for comparison

If you generate your own indices UBZ-II is almost exactly on par with Zen for double deck. I believe Zen has a small edge on 1 and 6 deck. Considering it's ease of use I believe UBZ-II to be the most powerful count. I've come up with a way to use one set of indices for any 1, 2, 6, or 8 deck game. For multi-deck it requires one step of simple multiplication to derive the index number, everything is still running count. The performance is very impressive.

On the Message Boards under card counting there is an entire thread sticky posted at the top of the page with Open Source UBZ11 with as many different index tables as you want (from very simple to very complete).
