KO in Las Vegas

Hi,
I haven't played blackjack recently but have been learning KO. I used to play in Reno with the Revere advanced plus/minus. Any suggestions on the best place to play in Las Vegas. I haven't been there for a while. Are there many single deck games or is it mostly shoes? Does KO work well in the shoe games or is it better suited for single-deck? Thanks for any advice you can give me

You will find more quality six-deck games than you will single-deckers, especially on the Strip. You might want to get a copy of CBJN in preparation for your trip.

KO is actually better suited for shoes than single-deck, so you should get by just fine.

I read in lot other messages that KO is good for pitch games compared to shoes because most of the Ill 18 are near the pivot which are more
accurate but in shoes some of the important plays are far away from pivot they are no accurate and bet fudging in requirec in shoes games.
Am I missing something here?

The authors of Knock-Out Blackjack identify 14 variations from basic strategy for four-, six-, and eight-deck games. Of these 14, ten occur at the Pivot Point, three occur at the Key Count and one, insurance, occurs at Pivot - 1. The Pivot Point is equivalent to a +4 count in Hi-Lo. All of the ten Pivot Point plays are in the I18 at +4 or lower, with one exception, 16 v. 9, which is a +5 play in Hi-Lo. The three that occur at the Key Count are plays that hover around 0 in Hi-Lo.

KO is a good count for any number of decks. I happen to believe it is better suited for multiple-deck games because it has a high betting efficiency and that is more important for multiple deck games when balanced against strategy than it is in single deckers.

According to my K-O book, which I think is the 2nd edition, only one variation, 16 v. 10, occurs at the Key Count. Has there been a revision to that? Also, mine has 13 variations for shoe games: 16 v. 10, insurance, 8 v. 5, 8 v. 6, 9 v. 2, 9 v. 7, 10 v. 10, 10 v. A, 11 v. A, 12 v. 2, 12 v. 3, 15 v. 10, 16 v. 9.

I was using the 1st edition of Knock-Out Blackjack. It includes 10 variations at the Pivot Point, insurance at Pivot minus 1, and three variations at the Key Count, which include 16 v. 10, 12 v. 4 and 11 v. Ace. It appears that you left out the 12 v. 4 variation and included the 11 v. Ace variant in the Pivot Point plays.

Perhaps the 2nd edition is a further revision. I haven't seen it.
