The guy on 48 hours who is a "pro" said that a '2' is a "one", but the counting strategy that I use has (2,7,8,9 as zero) (3,4,5,6 as 1) and (10, J,Q,K as -1) and (A as a side count)
I see this as a "wrap around" strategy.
Please tell me what you use? do you count a 2 as neutral or positive?
Hi-Lo counts the deuces as a plus one and the Ace as a minus one. Many other level 1 counting systems do the same. It sounds like you are using Hi-Opt 1, which doesn't count the deuce and requires a side-count of aces. No big deal, it just happens that you are using a different system than the one you saw on TV.
Different systems have different "tag" values. It appears that you are using Hi-Opt I, which counts the 2 as zero.
The "guy on 48 hours" (Tommy Hyland) was using a different system which counts the 2 as 1.

It is a matter of personal preference. I would prefer Hi-Lo over Hi-Opt 1. Hi-Lo is much easier to use because it does not require a side-count of aces. Unless you are playing strictly in deeply-dealt single deck games, Hi-Lo is as good or better than Hi-Opt 1.
But, if you are used to Hi-Opt 1 and know the system well, I'd say stick with what you know.
I recall someone once included a link to a page like this, but it had something like over 100 different systems and tag values. It did not have names for all the systems and did not have IC.
I know I should have bookmarked it at the time. At least, I saved this one now.

The site appears to consist mostly of large chunks of verbatum quotes from old Blackjack Forum articles, but nowhere do I see any mention of BJF or Arnold Snyder.
I wonder if Arnold is aware of this site?
Some of it is inaccurate as well. Zen is a good count, but it will not out-perform Hi-Opt II or Uston APC in a single deck game with good pen, as a chart indicates.
