From what I have read that is so close I have about decided to never hit 16 vs 10 ever again.
What do I give up? I play a 6 deck shoe game 90% of the time.
Talk me off the ledge?

The problem is that 16 v. T is one of the most frequent plays in blackjack, and so when you decide to play it wrong almost half of the time, even with minimum bets for when you're supposed to hit, there is a loss. It isn't possible to quantify it without letting us know your bet ramp, preferred game, rules, etc., but it isn't altogether trivial.
If, on the other hand, you systematically try to avoid negative counts, either by backcounting or taking frequent breaks in bad counts, the cost is obviously almost nothing at all.
