A Big Problem
I know I am getting this thread late, but that is because I haven't posted much lately. I have been quite under whether lately, with an nasty upper respiratory infection (aka "common cold"). It doesn't both me a whole lot unless I try to talk. But it is very difficult for me to get through a class with it.
I started coming down with this last week. It wasn't serious, and I really didn't pay it any heed. I made my scheduled casino visits. This was the big mistake. After all the exposure to the smoke, I was coughing and wheezing for several days.
Don't get me wrong, I don't believe that I caught this at the casino. But I do believe the second-hand smoke (which is casino is practically first-hand smoke) really irritated it and started most of my symptoms.
If I go away for a weekend gambling trip, I try to pack as many shirts as I can. SO says "Why are you taking 4 shirts if your only going to gone one night." Because after each session my shirt reeks so much of cigarettes that I have to change it.
So yes, I think gambling does have it health problems. The smoke is one issue. The whole lifestyle is another. I find it hard to diet on comped food. Have you ever seen anything low-cal at a buffet. Even the vegetables are drenched in fat. And I haven't noticed too many light dishes at the high-end restaurants.
Maintaining an exercise routine is also hard when your on a trip. I have gotten a bit smarter and I now try to stay at places that have treadmills. But even then if you spent a lot of time and money travelling to lay BJ, it is hard to take time away from it for exercise.
The health issues are one of the reasons that "Being a Professional Gambler" is way down on my list of "What I want to do when I grow up."
