There is a game that at the beginning of the shoe, they burn 9 cards. How does this affect count? Should I just average it out as a card of each of 2 through 10 came out? To what degree does this affect the game one way or the other? Thanks.
Burn cards are always treated as random in a straight counting game. They are unseen cards and should considered as behind the cut card.
When they burn cards prior to the deal then adjust your estimate of how many cards have been cut off. If you initially estimate 1 deck cut off then add approximately another 1/4 deck being cut off when the dealer burns 9 cards. Some DD games are deceiving. The dealer cuts 75% or more then prior to the deal they take another 1/2 deck off the top and place those in the discard rack. So really you are playing with a lot less cards than you might think. Watch and be careful.
