Hell of a deal in Albuquerque

Isleta Casino in Albuquerque, NM is holding a special promotion on Tuesday nights from 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm.

When a queen of hearts is exposed the following rule change occurs during that round:

1. Losers push if they don't bust.

2. Regular winners are paid 2-1.

3. Any natural BJ not containing the queen of hearts pays 3-1.

4. A natural BJ containing the queen of hearts pays 5-1 for guys.

5. A natural BJ containing the queen of hearts pays 10-1 for the ladies.

I believe the betting limits are $5 to $500 (don't hold me to that).

I read about it in this months Casino Player Magazine (March issue, Page 40).

I don't know if you want the rest of the world to know about it though. It can get burned out if the base rules of the game are decent.

I did however notice some gender discrimination in this:

What if a person is a transexual or is in partial transition? What if the dealer isn't quite sure as to whether a player is male or female? It's just inappropriate to burden an employee with that kind of an issue. It always seems to rub me a little the wrong way when I can't play because I'm too smart or get shorted because I'm a white male or just plain male.

None-the-less, sounds like a fun opportunity to make some $.

A strange promotion.

Very valuable in a face up shoe game - 6 Q of H available, and lots of cards dealt face up. Not nearly as valuable in a face down pitch game.

Seems to me it would make sense to play ALL spots on the table, if possible, since, the more spots that are played, the greater the chance of the Q of H being exposed in any one round. If six spots were played, you might see the Q of H exposed 35%+ of the time (assuming an average of 3 cards per spot - approx. 19/52 chance of seeing QH in any round).

Once the Q of H is exposed, strategy would get very weird. Since you push if you don't bust, I suspect that you would be standing on 12 or higher against anything (I'm sure somebody with an awful lot of free time can run a sim to prove this).

I suspect it would also make sense to keep a sidecount of Q of H, and bet accordingly.

I'm tempted to fly into town, put on a dress and makeup, and play six spots of $500. Being a big guy with a thick 5 o'clock shadow, though, I'd be a coyote ugly chick and doubt I could pull it off. I think if the promotion were offered for more than 4 hours (e.g., a weekend, or even a 24 hour period), you would see AP's falling out of the sky for this one. Since it's just 4 hours, though, it probably won't get abused.

had some nice stuff in the past. Sandia used to ring a bell for their 4 deck games and bjs paid 2-1 for half an hour. Lots of little wannabe gangbangers out there. Have to be careful.

publicize this on an open board so it doesn't last. WTF are you thinking? I doubt this will last long.

Never saw a game ruined from a public board post yet. Anybody capable of flying out there and capitalizing on the game has already done so.

Casino Player...its hardly a secret, indeed, i would suspect that the promotions department of Iselta gave it to the magazine...

i don't believe there is any need to protect information once it has become well know by publication like that...

what still is un-published about that promotion is the full extent of the limits on the game and table conditions during the promotion--if there are any...all that's come out is the rules and the time limit...

indeed, it may be that like so many of the promotions one sees for Vegas & other places, the promo may not be all that good...still, i hope the casino stick with it...
