head to head

When I'm in Vegas, I've noticed alot of black chip players playing head to head with the dealer. Is this better than playing with a full, or partially full, table? thanks for your input.

It is better to play heads up if you are an advantage player because you will get far more hands per hour. The downside is that heads up also exposes you to easier scrutiny by the casino. Bonne chance, PV

that lots of red chippers will join the blackchipper, who is enjoying his heads up game, just for the hell of it even when there are lots of empty tables around. Why do they do this?

Ploppies are afraid of playing the dealer heads-up, because they think this increases the house edge (how? who knows). I've heard that multiple times. Some of them I'm sure just want to sit down next to a $100 BJ hand when they have $100 to their name. It's lunacy. If I'm at a table by myself, go away! Don't come play with me!

If you are a $100 bettor that doesn't like company there are casinos that will give you a reserved table when betting black. Just a thought!

Limiting yourself that way is not good use of time. That particular casino with the private table may not have the game you are seeking. Also, a casino who sees a $100 bettor as a whale deserving of a private reserved table is likely a lower roller joint that will sweat the action (not always, but often). Not to mention that requesting the private table itself requires a call to the shift boss and unwanted attention. I often ask the floor for a table limit increase. But if I'm told that they'll need to call and get permission I tell them never mind, this is okay. We just have to tolerate this behavior as being the nature of the unsophisticated crowd.

I should have been clearer in my response to SnoopDarr. I am a green chipper with little patience for black chippers playing the $25 table and getting upset when I or someone else dare join their private action. That was the impression that I gathered from the posting by SnoopDarr. As to your comments on scrutiny I can only say it comes with the territory. When you put serious money on the table they pay attention, whether playing alone or in a crowd.

is not any better than asking for a private table, both will draw attention. A simple solution is play 2 hands or go to a higher limit table.

Warning the pit(if you will) that you want to increase your max bet beyond table limit is not a good idea.

Even if the pit is not required to call in, does not mean they wont. Of course if a gambler dont care about counter measures or getting barred, then.......

But then again , this is just my little humble opinion of how I would handle the situation.
