getting sharper & staying there

Hi guys! I've played BJ off and on for about 8 years now, although I didn't learn how to count until late in the game. I started to learn Omega II and got decent at it. I was no pro but stayed about even. Right now, I am on an extended leave of absence from BJ play (grad school + no bankroll + no nearby casinos = no BJ for me for the next 2 years). Is there somewhere that I can get a free BJ simulator or other freebies that I can use to practice? I figure that if I spend a few hours a week practicing, I can get really good by the time I graduate. Unfortunately I have to watch expenses now, so buying tutorials, green chip membership, etc. is out of the question.

It's not free, but I don't think the SAGE computer program can be beat for the price (around $30.) I used it to learn both basic strategy and counting and continue to use it to stay in shape. It is fully customizable and has many great features for the price. The graphics are naturally not as impressive as more expensive programs but they are certainly adequate.

While I have invested in a large library and several software tools for my PDA as well as my PC, I have to admit that nothing beats simulated table play for putting it all together and keeping skills sharp. While in school I suggest you find a close friend or significant other who will be willing to deal to you under simulated casino conditions. For supplies ask family or friends for gift certificates for a games store nearby where you can aquire a felt, chips, and shoe if you prefer shoe games. Everyone has birthdays and celebrates other "special occasions" where gift giving can be exploited to your advantage. If you are single, seek out another player, or someone seriously interested in learning to play who will be interested in regular practice sessions.
