Hello all,
Firstly, I apologize for the thread name. It’s sort of meant to be a catch-all for the observations and questions I, or anyone for that matter, may have that probably shouldn’t be given a single thread given that responses are likely not going to be as in-depth to warrant that sort of thread spam. Please feel free to answer any or none at all.
So, just to get the ball rolling, I was wondering if anyone would like to share their thoughts on the following:
1. Rule of thumb for number of days to sweat out heat?
I play ranked at my local casino in order to cash in on profitable promotions and earn (a meager amount of) comps. One of my experiences a few months back saw me win nearly 10x my buy-in amount at a red chip table in a single visit. Because of this, and because I wasn’t rat-holing my chips, I was beginning to feel some attention from the pit. Nothing crazy, but they were making it obvious that they were watching my table more closely than others, and spending 5x as long loitering at my table than they normally would.
I left shortly after once the count went down and cashed out without issue. Decided to wait 2 weeks before coming back, and did so without feeling much attention, though when my card was swiped I did get ‘a look’ from the pit - wether that was nothing and just my paranoia playing tricks on me or I’ve somehow been flagged in the system, I do not know. So, I guess what I’m asking (other than the obvious answer of ‘don’t play ranked’), how long do you normally wait before revisiting a location that you feel heat from?
2. I’ve read elsewhere that AP players should ‘be nice to Indian Casinos’. I don’t mind being nice to Indian Casinos, but I’m not terribly sure what that means? I consider myself ‘nice’ to every casino I visit. I tip dealers, I don’t curse, I don’t make scenes, I say my pleases and thank yous, etc. is this more of an insider reference to not AP Indian Casinos for too much money in a short time frame? Do you treat Indian Casinos differently? If so, in what way?
3. Counting side bets, worth the time?
Nearly every table I see has a side bet which lets you bet that the dealer will make a blackjack, AND your cards will form a royal flush with their upcard. So for example, your Ace-King of hearts match with the dealer’s upcard Queen of Hearts, and they also have an ace.
That’s just the biggest payout from this side bet, there are other payouts such as making a flush with their upcard, 2 pairs, straight, etc etc. but most of them require the dealer to also be making a natural blackjack in order to qualify. Does it make sense to be betting this side bet on very high counts?
Thank you for reading,
-40
