It is with great sadness that I today report the death this morning of Gary Cornelius, known as “Drumz”, a long time participant in BJ21, after an extended battle with recurring Cancer.

I know he had many friends in the community. Rest In Peace, buddy.

Gary was a wonderful friend, and he and I had just corresponded in the past two weeks. I am profoundly saddened to learn this.

This is sad news indeed.

Drumz and I corresponded from time to time by email, and early in 2019 he offered me comped tickets to a Mickey Gilley show at a nearby venue. I enthusiastically accepted, and finally got to meet Drumz in person. I found him to be every bit the gentlemen in person that he always seemed to be over the internet.

Rest in Peace, buddy.

I was deeply saddened to read of Gary's passing. We had talked just a few weeks ago, and he did tell me his cancer had returned. We corresponded from time to time and I was grateful that we were able to meet in person a couple of times and enjoy some good talk. During one of his concerts with Gilley at the IP in Biloxi, we were able to get away and enjoy some great barbeque at The Shed.

He was a gentleman and good friend, I will miss him and am deeply saddened by his passing.

Rest in peace my friend!

I enjoyed many visits with Gary through both of our travels, and watched his show twice, in Tunica and Wendover. He was a good guy -- always cheerful, even as he felt time slipping away. May he rest in peace.

Very sad to read this. He was a great guy, a fine musician and a sneaky blackjack player. I shall miss corresponding with him.

Sorry to hear this. I never met him, but did correspond with him some back in the day. He was a much appreciated contributor to this community.

Never met Drumz but he emailed me at least once. He was coming to the U.P. to perform at the Island Casino near Escanaba and wanted to know about the games there.

Very sad to hear of his passing. Sincere condolances to his family and friends. Looking at some of the names on this thread makes me miss the old days.

OMG. I really will miss him. My wife and I met Gary in Dallas at Gilly's. But we corresponded a lot. He had some great stories. Some about the Frontier. And he was a great drummer. You can see him play on youtube.

Another loss from the BJ21 golden years.

I was just thinking about Gary the other day and that I hadn't heard from him in a while. So sad to read the news.

Gary was a sweet man. He once sent me a DVD of one of his shows with Mickey Gilley from Branson, Missouri, which became his second home.

He performed regularly with his employer, Mickey Gilley in Branson and on the road.

I will miss Gary, his wisdom, and his kindness.
