I know what you mean but lets just take a moment to look at the facts. If The hand wasn't soft. It would only be a 17 or 18 which in the long run are both losing hands. There value is in the fact that It is multifaceted. You can get a very small card and really juice the hand or you can get a 10 card and lose nothing just make it a hard losing hand. Thats why BS only has you doubling it against a weak dealer hand. I agree that sometimes it seems like it causes me trouble too, but then along comes a dealer bust and I'm sitting there with the chips all out there. I know sometimes I check and recheck and check again EV against Basic strategy and come to the conclusion that Its the right move. Remember if you don't have BS you have nothing. Without BS your just a gambler.
