Dog Hand: Another favor please!

Hi Doghand,

I like to play "even" with the house. I'm using KO preferred at DD,H17,DOA,DAS,RSA with 65% pen. What kind of spread for me to play even with the house?

Why play "even" with the house? All you have is variance. Do you play at high enough stakes that the comps are worth the trouble?

You've already paid for Green Chip, and Dog Hand and other's have run countless sims for you already as favors. Why not buy the software yourself, then you can run all the sims you want at any time.

Since I'm just starting out and casino choice is limited, I like to play hours on end to practice and perfect my count in casino environment, while fully taking full advantage of casino comps and escape scrutiny.

You can still get asked not to play just playing basic. The casino would rather have a losing player occupy that seat. You can practice your counting at the table but you would not know if you were accurate unless they deal every card. Practice counting more at home and practice your procedure at the table, estimating TC, betting, dealing with distractions etc. Play small and practice the betting in your head.
When your ready then don't waste time. Start your betting and playing for real but you will still make some mistakes. Comps are nice but making money is better.

A lot of your counting practice can be done at home where it does not cost you any money. Even if you're "just practicing" at a real table, there is still a risk. However, the only way to simulate real casino conditions (ie: annoying players, heat, bells and whistles, waitresses, etc....) is to play in a casino. I agree with the suggestion to play BS, but keep count in your head and think to yourself what you would do in such and such a situation. If there are some tough calls you can always make the "informed decision" to use your indicies (if that's part of your game) There is a lot of great software out there (all Casino Verite/QFIT are paid), and some of it free (resources on the web and for download) that are of great benefit. As for your spread, larger spreads typically yield a greater profit but this may not be practical considering your BR and RoR you're willing to accept. There is software out there, I don't remember which, that will calculate an optimal bet spread for you. Some common spreads are 1-4, 1-12, and 1-16 units.
