Did Harrahs cheat me here?

I was playing the single deck blackjack game at Harrahs in Reno recently and get a 6-3 vs 6 on a $25 bet. I double down, the dealer doubles me down giving me one face down card, then busts but says she will only pay me $25 since it's a double on 10 or 11 only table. I said no you doubled me down I should be paid the $50. She called the boss over and he said They will only pay me $25. I said it was a dealer mistake and she shouldn't have doubled me down. Again he said no they were only going to pay me the $25. I took the $25 and left. I felt $25 wasn't enough to make a huge deal out of it. What should I have done? Was I cheated? should I have been paid here? If I lost the hand the dealer would have taken both bets.
Thinking back on it now I guess I could have talked to the shift manager about getting a $25 refund.

Gen. Pershing is right. They probably saw you as a shot-taker.

I am confident they would have taken only $25.

The boss would probably called the hand dead if you had received a 2 on the "double down," as obviously you would have wanted another card, and the dealer's error contributed to the situation.

For such a tiny amount of money, it's not worth making a fuss over. Just get away from the situation with as little attention as possible, so you have a better chance of not being remembered. I probably would have apologized for "my mistake" and continued the session, so it would quickly be forgotten.

That game is among the best games in Reno (dealer-dependent). It does not make sense to risk bring excluded from it sooner than otherwise would happen in the normal course of business.
