Dealer from heaven

Lately there have been many posts regarding bad dealers but let me remind everyone that some dealers are pretty good.

There was this asian female dealer who was smokin hot and had a smile the whole time. She was cheering when she drew a 5 or 6 upcard and whenever a player received a good hand. Anytime a player asked for advice she told them exact perfect BS (BS as in basic strat, not bullsh!t like most dealers tell players)
Not only that but she didn't shuffle up as often as other dealers did at this joint.
She even told a guy it wasn't wise to take insurance on *this* hand, when the TC was +1, but later on when the TC was +5 she recommended insurance on the hand.

Wonderful dealer and a damn shame she is forced to share her tips with others. Regardless of that, I was up over $600 and gave her a green chip. Am I a sucker for a smile and pretty face?

you're a sucker for a smile and a pretty face. Though if you're getting something extra in return you wouldn't otherwise get anyway, then you're big tip is just peachie. Maybe she'll give you more BJ's in the future. In that case, the return on the investment may be nearly priceless. ;-)

There is some concensus here that states along the lines of dealers steering the player in the wrong direction. Here's a couple facts to keep in mind.

Some dealers tell people what they want to hear, even though they themselves know it is wrong. I'm not gonna defy 7 players telling me their way of playing. I'm way outnumbered, and let's be real, have you ever tried to change a ploppies mind, forget it!! As a dealer myself, it is important to at least be agreeable with 'em. (Unless the customer is a dick, in which case, I don't say anything, but that aside)

Here lies the other problem.

You gotta remember, a huge portion of dealers don't gamble or know much about gambling other than what they hear the ploppies tell them is true. Then a n00b comes up to that dealers table and gets the bad advice from the ignorant dealer, and voila, a new ploppy is born and off to spread the bad advice to even more people like a virus.

How about a canned response to requests for advice, something like, "I know how to deal the game, but do not know the game from the player's side. I'm not comfortable giving playing advice." By this time, usually a self-appointed know-it-all loudmouth ploppy will speak up and offer his/her advice. This takes the dealer off the hook without antagonizing the patron.

"The house has determined that it is a conflict of interest for me to advise you on how to play your hand + I don't have any professional BJ playing experience. Therefore, if I tell you how to play your hand and you lose as a result of misinformation, the house could be liable for damages. I can however provide you with this BS card for this game."

That would be too smart. Everybody wants to put in there 2 cents when they think they are "helping" including the ploppy dealers.

In the casinos that I know of, as dealers we are really NOT supposed to offer BS advice, because we are not "trained" to know it. It is not necessarily against the rules, just unadvised. Obviously, a good portion of dealers do gamble, most as ploppies, so they do know, at least, the beginners guide to BJ. As for the BS playing card, it can be informed that the casino does sell them in the gift shop.

As for me, I know the full BS front and back for the different BJ rules applied. Even though I know it, however, I still phrase my advice as such: "Your BEST move is to...." or "This is your best odds play, but you can do what you want." If a ploppy has already offered advice, I don't say anything. It's not my place to disagree with the player with his/her chips in the circle, unless they want the discussion of course.

I will usly tell them the right play according to BS and then tell them what most other players would do and that they should play thier money however they want.
