DB Cooper

Last night on the Discovery Channel they had an episode of "Unsolved History" looking into the mystery involving the amazing DB Cooper. The windup of it all was that a dying man admitted to his wife in 1995 that he was Cooper, but had no proof. Having only a 1971 sketch to go by and a picture of this dying man from later years, the investigators went to Las Vegas to see if facial recogition could resolve this mystery. Having never tried to put a decription sketch in the system before they did not know if it would work. Among the millions of faces in the database the sketch identified this man as their top match. They also stated that FRS has been greatly improved since 1996 when it first came out. Those who refuse to acknowledge the accuracy of FRS and choose to spread their uninformed nonsense to others will never learn.

The computer based identification technologies such as AFIS(automatic
fingerprint identification system),DNA databases,voice and facial
recognition technologies are truely on the cutting edge. If you are a
big player and are listed in the Griffin Book or are on some other
watchlist you may have some problems. For everyone else no one really
much cares.

What is your point? Serious AP's can change names and looks as fast as the casino can look them up in any database whether it's indexed by FRS formulas or Microsoft Access. If your photo's not in the database or the pit hasn't called upstairs to make you the object of attention you can get down quite a bit of action before the eye takes notice. Then, the operator has to decide that the person that FRS brings up is indeed the same person that is playing that moment. Casinos don't run FRS on everyone and while you're making your waiting bets on shoes you're likely not to be noticed or even looked at by anyone.

You sound to me like a surveillence operative trying to scare the naive red and green chipppers from using their brains to win at blackjack. Pathetic!

Quit blackjack, eh? Not bad advice at all, from a mathematical viewpoint. Let's see, if you play blackjack, your expectation is 1% on all large bets wagered. But in poker, the player gets 5% and higher return on all monies wagered. Now why in the world would someone be willing to give up a 5% interest rate at one bank in exchange for a paltry 1% at another bank? Doesn't make sense to me. Maybe a psychiatrist could shed some light here?

If you can get a 5% edge at Poker have at it. Most poker players don't get a 1% edge much less 5%. I'd estimate based on my experience that at least 1/2 of the poker players out there have zero edge or worse.

Skill at blackjack, a mechanical game, does not automatically translate to skill at Hold-Em.
