Viktor Nacht and Max Rubin ghoulishly invite you to join them on Saturday, October 29th from 8PM-Midnight in Las Vegas for the first annual Halloween Blackjack Ball. Thanks to the generosity of this year's sponsor, the new Worldwide Blackjack Tour, admission is complimentary for blackjack players and their significant others.

In attendance will be a mix of blackjack VIPs, celebrities, authors, as well as many professional and serious recreational players. There will be music, drinks, activities, socializing, and several humorous surprises.

The center of festivities will be Ringmaster Max Rubin's Greatest Games on Earth, where various players and teams will compete in a variety of blackjack challenges, ranging from skill tests and mini tournaments to community "grudge matches" between sites and rivals.

Producers from the WBT will be on-hand filming the challenges and overall event, as well as scouting for new players for the tour. Appearance on camera will be completely optional and easy to avoid.

In so much that we're not running a background check on every person RSVP's yes. The party is being marketed to and thrown in celebration of players, so we are making rudimentary efforts to keep it limited to players. Some people are RSVPing by just giving us their handle and a cell phone, which is just fine, since we're only about 2 degrees of separation from confirming they are a player. But for the most part it is the honor system, so some casino nut with nothing better to do could come, but they would really accomplish very little if you look at it practically.

Because, keep in mind, the the whole point of holding it on Halloween is that it's customary to be in costume or disguise, and the other point being that because people can come in costume, we can open it up to players who are not networked with the "in crowd" and wouldn't normally be able to attend a party with other players for security concerns. This is an egalitarian effort, to try and bypass some of the elitism that we all practice in different degrees.

And there are lot of great people, well known and otherwise, who agree and will be there to socialize and be part of the whole community.

I also just got a call from Max that Barona, kelvis' favorite casino, may sponsor a prize for sit 'n' go tournament that every will get to play. Free roll!

In any case, this kind of public thing will not be for everyone. But the convergence of Halloween, costumes, disguises, and the increasing media exposure of the game, make it a way for every player to be at the center of the BJ universe for a night.

You might be amazed at the people that have been guests at "screened" parties. The more "private" an event the more likely it isn't. I have heard examples of players with friends for years that never realized the "friends" were casino reps. And every "private" forum has leaks. The only time in my 30 years playing that my identity was compromised was the supposed secret BJ Ball. That's just the way it is.

I must admit the costume idea is a neat method of getting around the problem without a false claim of security.
