Has anyone recently played at this Casino? I use the Hi-Opt I without the Ace Side Count and only come out $20-30 ahead per day there. They have just changed their rules this summer actually but I still can't seem to get really ahead of that Casino.
Lance Humble's Hi Opt 1, is not as good as hi-lo. Also, you did not say whether you were playing against 8 decks or not, what kind of penetration you are playing against and what your bet spread is. These answers as well as standard deviation could explain why you are earning so little money.

Maybe it is the Hi-Opt I, but I've played the Hi-Lo before and found it about the same(in that Casino). Perhaps I should switch back to it.
If you play-all with that spread, assuming a penetration of 4.5/6, your expected value is 0.43% and your SCORE is 8.33 (according to www.bjstats.com). This means that if you have a $10,000 bankroll and are making optimal bets, you can expect to make $8.33/hour. For your spread, expect to make about $5/hour with a relatively high variance.
If you wong-in/wong-out, you increase your expected value while lowering your variance, resulting in a much higher SCORE. However, don't expect to win much more than $10/hour with a $10-$50 spread.
It isn't HiOptI that's the problem, although it would be a lot better to use HiLo for shoe games. Not only do you get slightly better results, you don't have to sidecount aces. HiOptI is best suited for single decks games, assuming you learn a lot of indices.
What are table limits (min). Also is it No hole card? How many decks? What is the pen? can you bet behind other players? any heat for wonging in-out? or varying the bet?

You will rarely see 4.5 pen at the Montreal Casino, the pen is usually closer to 3.75 or 4/6. Also, $10 tables are getting rare and it`s always crowded. All in all, you are wasting your time at the Casino de Montreal. Suggestion, spend some time visiting the city and have a beer at the famous "Chez Par�e" strip club.
