Dollar's econo rental was $17.99 last time I rented and I got an upgrade to boot. Can it be any cheaper even with a discount code? If so, I want one too.
$99 which worked out to $14+ per day with a discount code, so yes it can go lower.
I used to work for Budget Rent-a-Car a few years back.
(May they rest in peace.) Discount codes were entered
into the reservation computer by the reservation agent
which lowered the rental price. At Budget, the codes
were a short combination of letters and numbers. There
were generic discount codes like senior discount, AAA
membership, coupon specials, and last minute unpublished
codes. Look on a rental car coupon and you will see the
discount code (which you have to communicate to the agent).
Local markets (I live in Orlando) will often have some
specials on a certain size vehicle or free upgrade, etc.
Always ask the reservation agent of any specials. I didn't
realize these codes were available to the general public.
And, I recall there were always last minute discount codes
coming out of the marketing department to push a specific
class, size, or style of vehicle.
