It is difficult to accumulate enough EV to cover your trip costs in Reno, much less make any net profit. However, there is some EV for the taking.
Good red chip SD games are plentiful, and you can snag some EV, just play hit and run, keep your sessions to 30 minutes (45 at the absolute extreme), play anon, and limit it to one session per shift for the visit. Hit the following casinos with red chip action ($60 max bet or less):
> Western Village
> Alamo
> Rail City
> JA Nugget (but can get better rules at their $25 min game)
> Boomtown
> Peppermill
> Atlantis
> Siena
That's 8 casinos times 3 shifts = 24 sessions = 12 to 18 hours of playing time. Should be more than enough to keep you busy for a weekend of hit and run sessions. Just know that you will be spending a fair amount of time driving between casinos.
If you want to play at the Green chip level, then Reno is not ideal, but JA Nugget, and Atlantis will tolerate bigger bets alot better than most places.
Oh, and you WILL need a car in Reno.
One last tip - Reno casino's accept each others chips (both at the cage and at the table). Don't waste time cashing chips at every place.
