Uston was one of the GREATEST and most successful blackjack players that ever lived. He was also a great contributor to the BJ community, dont you forget it.
A case could be made for either one but one has been dead for quite a while the other is still quite active. Uston wrote very well and put into practice many of the techniques Hyland is presently using. I was just pointing out that Hyland has been more successful with them. It's also interesting how Hyland has followed Uston's lead by making himself into somewhat of a public figure.
talk to people who played with him for a different opinion
Yes Uston wrote some good books and he got the laws changed in NJ. (Was that a good thing?) Read the current BJ Forum for info on what he was like as a player.
he was a overhyped jerk who cost me a large number of playable casino games with his lawsuit.if the guy was so smart, why would he sue the AC casinos.he had to know if he won they would change all the rules to stop counters.he should be in the HALL OF SHAME!!
I'd strongly recommend to anyone who would like to gain a better understanding of the tremendous contributions Braun made to the card counting community to go to www.casinogaming.com (off the top of my head, I hope this is correct) and go the archived blackjack columns section. Braun passed on last year and Peter Ruchman wrote a tremendous two or three part eulogy highlighting his enormous contributions.
Yes, Ruchman's name has been tossed in the mud lately, but his archived columns do contain a few gems.
Those with the most success in any field are seldom the most highly skilled. But he got projects off the ground. He didn't just talk. He got groups of people together, organized an attack plan, and executed the plan. He is an inspiration for me.
