I am fairly new to black chip play and though successful at the moment we all know the ups and downs of the game. I have received a little heat but nothing major and I have not been backed off yet. Does anyone have any advice for a new black chip player on longevity. The APs I know have mixed opinions on weather I should spend short period of times in a casino (1 hour max) or sit down for extended sessions (2-3 hours longer). Though everyone agrees that extended sessions allow casinos to get a good look at your style of play, some feel that short sessions raise red flags especially since so many casinos are connected at the moment. If anyone has an opinion or advice on this matter it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for any input on this subject

It sounds like you know the basics, it's not a science.

Depending on the casino, pocketing blacks/purples can draw extra attention. I play unrated often.

It just depends on your goals and where you're playing. If you play locally only, you probably want to be more cautious about wearing your welcome. If you are traveling somewhere for a week every few years, I think it's OK to maximize your return.

I've never really had the urge to play black. If I'm getting the same rules (edge) at a quarter table why play black. When the count is not in my favor I'm still
shelling out Black! when I could be tossing out quarters, I have never gotten any heat from going to a quarter to a black and leaving the black stand has long as the
count is in my favor and doubling it after awhile, then going back to quarters after a loss and building it back up again. However I do limit my play from a
quarter to no more than 2 black. just MHO.

Anderson is Not outdated. He is as fresh as this morning.
You read him to understand how to act and how to think.
Once something is published it is outdated lol

Short play or long play - each session is different - Every time you sit down a new chess game begins.
You need time to grow. We all did
What's the rush ?

I play for very large numbers = I kind of know my way around
Best of luck as you play by the math and not your instinct's.

What great advice from all of you!

I just finished rereading Anderson and will reread Wong's Pro BJ next.

I am in the same boat as Spincycle59 (great avatar) and think I will stay there for awhile. I would suspect that there is more heat at the black chip level.

This is the kind of dialogue that Green Chip is all about.

Recently had a soft back off downtown, Host said, "you have had six winning sessions in a row, maybe give it a break"

I said, "three months?"

"Six would be better"

All short sessions, 700 to 1200 wins.

California guy so spend about 4 weeks a year in Vegas. In 1998, I was there 200+ days with no real heat.

Last year backed off at Fiesta Henderson in under an hour, but only for the night.

Getting tougher every year.
