BJ21.com postbusting

We rarely bust posts at BJ21.com. But lately there have been a spate of irrelevant, silly, or off-topic posts made to this board. These posts waste the time of people who come to BJ21.com for useful information and discussion. Our long-standing postbuster guidelines include the following:

19. Posts containing no material having anything to do with gambling or casinos or the page topic do not have to (but may) be deleted.

Discussion About the non-objective postbusters' guideline No.19.

Al, congrats for a good job in busting the politics thread which had gone hostile & ugly. With that said, I like to start a discussion about the non-objective postbuster's guideline No.19.

I think there's a problem with #19, which is non-objective & has been unevenly enforced subjectively. No, I'm not disappointed, just concerned. I want the Wong's website be the best of the bests. The only way to do it...perhaps is to improve on its postbusters' guidelines.

For example, Rman's quiz-thread should be busted based on #19, but it's still standing. So we have problem in these wordings:

do not have to
vs
(but may)

Don't get me wrong. I love Rman's stuff. His funny thread must stand because it's good for posters' morale. If Rman's thread were busted, it would probably discourage the active posters from further postings.

Perhaps the following wordings may solve the problem: "If the posts are humorous, harmless or even silly, let them stand. If harmful or hostile, bust them."

My previous humorous "Camouflage" post was busted based on #19. So, what if I modify my previous busted post and repost it (see below), will my post get busted again based on the current non-objective No. 19? Al, I appreciate your kind consideration of the above & below.

The intention of this post is to provide a laugh, so don't take it too seriously. Here it goes:

Guys, you will learn the deadly technique against casinos' counter-measures right from this post. Just ask yourself: "what if I disguise myself and make myself look as if I'm one of the well-known celebrities? If "sure, why not" is your answer, then read on further.

Here are the nuts and bolts how I feel the first time when I look at the pic of the Master:

First when I glanded at the pic, I thought it was Osama bin Laden.

Then at a closer look, I realized it's a pic of Bush.

However, when I put it under a microscope, it's Viktor!

I bow to the Master of Disguise, Viktor!

As previously noted, BJ21.com has a long history of letting posts stand. It is rare we bust posts. Not only is suppressing open discussion against our nature and long-standing company policy, it takes up time that could otherwise be used more productively. We try to balance that against keeping the free page useful for visitors, who may turn into customers if they like what they see on the free page. Here are more postbuster guidelines that figure into a decision on a borderline post:

15. Give more leeway to posts from known members of the BJ21 community.

17. Give less leeway to posts positively identified as coming from people with a history of busts for cause.

18. Give less leeway to anonymous posts and posts with anonymized IP addresses.

Al does this mean that no more postings on how to pick up hookers in Las Vegas will be allowed? :)

For what it's worth, I appreciate that my post and its raison d'etre were busted. Too bad the previous wasn't busted before I was compelled to respond to it.

Busting posts is always going to be a judgement call, and each person will take a slightly different approach. As for off-topic material, I personally tend to let it stand unless the thread gets out of hand and people start getting nasty with each other. This usually leads to political posts being busted because some folks can get pretty emotional about politics.

If you had been around a few years ago to see the concerted efforts of some people to destroy this site with disruptive posts, you'd know how nasty it can get and why the postbusters were formed in the first place. Fortunately, we don't have to bust nearly as many posts now as we once did. Many of the culprits have found other outlets for their venom.
