bet progression with count question

If I am playing 8 deck s17 and I spread from a min of ten to a max of 100 why should I wait until a TC of 3 or 4 to hit max bet. Why not go to max at a TC of 2 given that I do have a small albeit edge. DOes this create too much volatility? wouldnt your long term profits be higher getting to max more often even with a small edge over house.

Look it up... It basically states that your bet should be the percentage of your bankroll that is equal to your advantage.. If you bet more at a lower count then you are risking more money than you should for the advantage you have at that time. That's why we ramp the bets with increasing TC.

Your bankroll was big enough then you could do what you are describing. No need to calculate true count betting. Either bet minimum or your max bet. Makes it easy but BR has to be structured for it.

You will be playing w/ an advantage, but be prepared for huge swings. That's why thetahoescout said you need a large BR.

If you bet Kelly the swings are not statistically likely to be as dramatic either way - good or bad.

Whatever your style and BR dictate...you decide.

since I switched over to a more aggressive style my profits are up but you are right , bigger swings. It depends if you can handle it 1. psychologically and 2. bankroll.
my win rate was almost 80% last year with a kelly approach and max $100 (Ontario govt casino rules) but small wins (100-300). this year my profit per month is higher but win rate looks like closer to 60% with some 1000 plus wins.

going to vegas in feb so obviously potential for larger max bets. I will get much more conservatvie at low and med counts and more aggressive at high and super high counts.

Please explain what that means. Isn't "win rate" expressed in hourly terms, such as, "My win rate was $250 per hour?" How can it be a percentage?

the percentage of " sessions " where you are positive -which are usually 3 hrs or so but you are right that this is a weak stat. YOu have to know how big the losses and wins are and an hourly rate is much stronger.
