A friend who loves single deck but really does not count or know indices (he looks at the board and figures big or small cards are coming), told me about a locale that had, what he called, good single deck games. He also told me that any time you increase your bet by 3, they automatically shuffle. To clarify I asked does that mean if I bet $50 on hand one and $150 on hand two, they do not deal a second hand? When he stated that is how it was done, I told him I was not interested and the game was not playable for me.
one way to "milk" this situation is to triple your bet every time the deck goes negative. Lo and behold, the negative deck will get shuffled away! then pull back your bet and bet off the top with your standard starting bet. if the deck goes solidly positive, then double your bet. if it stays positive, inch the bet higher. You would have to check out the dealer to see what would make him/her shuffle up as you inched your bet up. Like, if you bet $50 off-the-top, and the deck went positive eon the next hand, and you doubled your bet to $100, and the deck still stayed positive, if you moved your bet up to $150, would that cause the dealer to shuffle, because your $150 bet is triple the $50 bet? this would have to be discerned. Regardless, a situation where you are getting the negative decks shuffled away, and you are getting a 1-2 or better spread on the positive decks, is not too shabby
