I have been going to Vegas since 1998, a total of about 25 trips. As my bet level progressed, I would get backed off more and more times- multiples at at Mirage, NY NY, TI when it was MGM, Monte Carlo multiple times, the new one by City Center, but never at Belagio. The last 5 years or so, on my short trips, I have tried to preserve the Belagio keeping the sessions short and never betting more than $400 and obviously never using a players card. My theory was that a $400 max bet for a short session was below the trigger point of concern.
On my most recent trip, I even wore a suit and tie to further look like I belonged rather than looking like a card counter. I spread from $50-350. Unlike on past visits, where the pit bosses would only casually watch the cards, this old man pit boss was watching every card like a hawk. Then said- "your moving your bet pretty good with the count. I better call surveillance." I left without incident.
Has there been a change at the Belagio or was this some pit boss trying to make a name for himself and impress his bosses.
