On a scale of 1 to 10, my math skills rank at about 2, but I disagree with your opinion that one must reject two centuries of probability theory in order to accept my viewpoint.
Analogy: I assume that mathematics played a major role in the development of our new missile defense system, and that computer simulations of mathematical projections verified that the system was workable. Recent "live" tests resulted in 2 of 6 missiles failing to perform as predicted. One could easily argue that the math is correct and the computer simulations are correct, but "human intervention" caused the high failure rate and the difference between projected probability and actual outcome.
It's possible that this same "human intervention" can alter probability projections at the blackjack table, and I think efforts to investigate this possibility are reasonable... which I've spent a lot of time doing for the last three years!
